Spiced Chocolate Eggnog – Deliciously thick and creamy, perfectly spiced homemade eggnog that is loaded with chocolate flavour!
Who’s a fan of eggnog? Have you ever had chocolate eggnog?
Well, today I bring you just that. Thick and deliciously creamy eggnog with chocolate, warm spices, and topped with whipped cream.
This eggnog is absolutely irresistible!
How to make Spiced Chocolate Eggnog
Ingredients you’ll need:
- large egg yolks
- granulated sugar
- milk
- heavy/double cream
- dark chocolate
- vanilla extract
- ground cinnamon
- ground nutmeg
To make this eggnog, simply whisk together the egg yolks, and sugar until pale and thick. Set aside.
In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the milk, cream, chocolate, vanilla, and spices. Stir often until the chocolate has melted, and everything is combined.
Remove from the heat and pour into the egg mixture, whisking contantly. Pour the mixture back into the pan and heat gently on low-medium, stirring contantly, until smooth and thick enough to coat a spoon. Do not allow to boil or turn up the heat!
Remove from the heat, pour into a mixing bowl (or another heat-proof container), cover and refrigerate overnight, or for up to 3 days.
For a perfectly smooth eggnog, pour through a sieve before chilling.
This recipe is super easy to throw together, and is prepped in under 20 minutes. It also yields about 6 – 8 servings, but if you need to make less, simply halve the recipe, or keep any leftover servings in the fridge for up to 3 days. Pour into glasses and enjoy cold topped with whipped cream!
The printable recipe card with the full list of ingredients, their measurements, and instructions can be found at the bottom of this post.
NOTE: For best results, I highly recommend using the gram measurements (with a digital scale), rather than the cup measurements. Cup measurements are simply not accurate enough, and I cannot guarantee the best results if you use them.
