Ingredients you’ll need
Here’s a list of ingredients you’ll need to make these brownies. You can find my recipe card at the bottom of this post for the complete list with their amounts.
- Nutella: or any other hazelnut chocolate spread.
- Unsalted butter
- Granulated sugar
- Cocoa powder: I use Dr. Oetker Fine Dark Cocoa Powder.
- Salt
- Large eggs
- Vanilla extract
- Plain/all-purpose flour
- Chocolate chips: milk, dark, or semi-sweet.
How to make Nutella Brownies
To make these fudgy Nutella brownies, start by cutting out an 8×8-inch square piece of parchment paper. Dollop half of the Nutella onto the paper, and spread out to the edges.
Freeze until solid – about 1 hour.
Next, place the remaining Nutella, butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt into a large microwave-safe bowl, and heat on high for 1 minute. Stir to combine, then microwave for another minute.
The mixture should very warm/hot to the touch.
Add the eggs and vanilla, and mix well until combined. Mix in the flour until fully combined, then gently fold in the chocolate chips, making sure not to let them ALL melt into the warm batter.
Spoon half of the brownie batter into an 8×8-inch square baking pan lined with parchment paper or foil, and spread out evenly.
Place the frozen Nutella on top, then top with the rest of the batter.
Bake for 45 – 50 minutes, or until the centre is no longer jiggly. Allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
TIP: To speed up the cooling time, place the pan in the freezer for 1 hour – the brownies should be perfectly cooled and chilled.
The printable recipe card with the FULL list of ingredients and instructions can be found at the bottom of this post.
NOTE: For best results, I highly recommend using the gram measurements (with a digital scale), rather than the cup measurements.
Cup measurements are simply not accurate enough, and I cannot guarantee the best results if you use them.
These Nutella Brownies are:
- super quick and easy to make
- deliciously thick and fudgy
- loaded with Nutella flavour
- stuffed with a creamy Nutella centre!
How long will these brownies last? These brownies will stay fresh, stored in an airtight container, at room temperature or in the fridge for up to 1 week.
Can I freeze these Nutella brownies? Yep! These brownies also freeze well for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge. If desired, let the brownies come to room temperature before serving.
