Why you’ll love this recipe

Despite being made from only three simple ingredients, these Easy 3 Ingredient Nutella Brownies are incredibly delicious!

These brownies are thick and fudgy, loaded with Nutella flavour, and are super quick and easy to throw together.

Because Nutella is basically full of sugar, and we are using a lot of it here, these brownies still develop their desired signature crinkly top.

Ingredients you’ll need

Here’s a list of ingredients you’ll need to make these brownies. You can find my recipe card at the bottom of this post for the complete list with their amounts.

  • Nutella: Or any other hazelnut chocolate spread. If your chocolate spread is quite thick, microwave to a runny state (about 30 seconds).
  • Large eggs: You’ll want 2 large eggs, plus 1 large egg yolk – at room temperature.
  • Plain/all-purpose flour: Using only a small amount of flour is what helps create super fudgy brownies.
  • Salt: Optional, but helps balance out the sweetness.
  • Optional add-ins: 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, or 1/2 cup of chopped nuts. OR try a combination of both!

How to make Easy 3 Ingredient Nutella Brownies

To make these brownies, simply start by whisking together the Nutella and eggs until smooth and combined.

Add the flour and salt, and fold in until combined.

Pour the batter into an 8×8-inch square baking pan lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 20 – 25 minutes, or until the centre is no longer jiggly and a toothpick inserted comes out almost clean with a few moist crumbs.

Allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

The printable recipe card with the full list of ingredients, their measurements, and instructions can be found at the bottom of this post.

Tips & tricks for this recipe

Here are a few tips and tricks for making these brownies.

  • Microwaving the Nutella until warm and runny will help make the combining of ingredients quicker and easier.
  • The extra egg yolk makes for extra chewy and fudgy brownies – Yes please!
  • Using such a small amount of flour also contributes to the fudginess of these brownies.
  • Salt is optional and totally not necessary, but it can balance out the sweetness of these brownies. I have a big sweet tooth, so I mostly don’t add it unless I’m making them to share out to family and friends.
  • To speed up the cooling time, place the pan of brownies in the freezer for 1 hour, then slice and serve.

    1. Hi Sara! About 20 – 25 minutes. You’ll find everything you need to know in the recipe card at the bottom of the post 🙂

    1. If you are baking it in a bigger pan (a 13×9-inch) then no, but you’ll need to cook for longer in the same pan size. I’d keep checking on it after the 30 minute mark 🙂

  1. was so excited to make these but they didnt taste good at all.most recipes ive tried here are awesome, but this tasted terrible

  2. I had a go at making these, but I had to do it twice to get the consistency right. To begin with, I’ve got a fan oven so I adjusted the temperature from 180 down to 160. I’ve also only got a 9” tin so my mixture would be thinner and probably need less time. I also used medium eggs as it’s all I had, but those didn’t seem to affect anything.

The first attempt I cooked the mixture for 20 mins, this was too long. The resulting brownies were more like cake and didn’t have the usual gooey texture.

The second attempt I did everything the same except I checked after 10 mins. It was super gooey and not cooked enough, there was also quite a big bubble (which I popped haha). I put it back in for another 4 minutes then took it out. I’ve left them cooling in the tin and I’m pretty sure these will be super gooey!

Yeah these were spot on! I could probably have got away with about 12-13 minutes if I wanted them REALLY gooey but I’m happy with the result. Thanks!

  3. These were sooo good and easy to make! Fudgy, chewy and rich. We loved them and this will be my go-to brownie recipe from now on!! Just make sure the Nutella is heated up enough. Our batter was quite hard by the time we poured it in the pan, but they still turned out great.

  4. Hi Marsha, they look amazing! I’d like to try adding protein powder to it for a pre or post work out treat. What flour to protein powder ratio would you recommend?

  5. I was so excited to try these, but I’m not sure where I went wrong! Had them in for 20 min and they came out super dry…like a cake…I’m so sad 🙁

  6. I was nervous to try these because the last time I attempted Nutella brownies, they were a disaster…these however turned out perfect! I love dark chocolate but I am a huge Nutella fan so this is probably my new go to recipe for brownies. They are so fudgy as well. Thank you for creating a recipe that actually makes delicious brownies with only 3 ingredients!

  7. Hi! I loved the idea of this recipe and tried it and mine turned out more into a cake then brownies? Followed everything apart from using a different chocolate spread where did I go wrong?

    1. Hi Olivia! This could come down to either baking time, oven temperature being higher than stated, or using too much flour (using kitchen scales is a lot more accurate than using measuring cups). I highly recommend an oven thermometer to make sure the temperature is correct, and be sure to pull the brownies out as soon as the centre is no longer jiggly – no longer. Also, using a different brand of chocolate spread shouldn’t matter. I hope this helps! 🙂

    1. Hi Kate, I’m glad you enjoyed the recipe! Anything I make in an 8×8-inch square pan will usually get cut up into 16 bars, but if you want bigger bars, feel free to cut that many out instead 🙂

  8. Hey, I’ve made so many of your recipes and love them! I want to make these but I want to add something to make it look fancy. Any ideas that won’t ruin the recipe? Chopped chocolate on top?

  9. These brownies look super yummy, Marsha! I love the fact they’re made with just 3 ingredients and take only 30 mins to make! Definitely gotta try the recipe – I’m addicted to anything with Nutella! 😀

      1. O.M.G! These were AMAZING! The family gobbled them up right away. I only got 9 bars out of it, I couldn’t imagine eating one any smaller than that they were so delicious! You’d swear there was butter in them because they’re so buttery and chewy and fudgy..I’m drooling writing this haha! I posted them on my social media and 5 people have already asked for the recipe so I linked your site so they can make these Heavenly brownies hehe… please, if you’re reading this and haven’t made em, DO IT! just try not to eat them all!
